Toray Industries: A major investment in battery technology, Nyergesújfalu

Japanese-owned Toray Industries Hungary Kft. Builds a lithium battery separator film production plant with a 39 mln Eur (127 billion HUF)   expense in Nyergesújfalu, the foreign and foreign minister announced on Friday at the site of the new factory. Péter Szijjártó said that the investment on 45 hectares will create 188 new jobs.

Nikkaku Akihiro, Toray Industries president, said his company was released in 2014 in Nyergesújfalu, after acquiring the Zoltek plant where carbon fiber is produced. The two-stage investment will expand Toray's separator production capacity by twenty percent worldwide. For 20 years, Toray has been one of the largest manufacturers of separator film used in lithium batteries. The film, between 5 and 25 microns thick, separates the anode and the cathode, conducts the electrons, and acts as an insulator in the event of a short circuit.
